06/07/2008: "alive and kicking!"
monster hunter ostokays
It's June already? Yes, it's June and it is well beyond absurdly hot
I returned from a moderately cool Pennsylvania and NYC to a scorching North Carolina. I enjoyed going home to visit my parents. Their pretty kitten is not a little kitten anymore, but a beautiful white and tabby adult cat who thinks she is still a kitten.
We took the train in NYC for a short overnight trip to go see the Yoshida Brothers and do some shopping. From the station we grabbed the nearest food to eat quickly since we were on a tight schedule! We stopped in at the big Sanrio store, and surprisingly I didn't buy a single thing! I like more San-X characters than your standard Hello Kitty. Then we headed to Kinokuniya where I stocked up on Cutie, Kera, Gothic Lolita Bibles and sewing magazines. I also snagged an adorable shirt and Andrew only found one CD - I didn't find any! They didn't carry bands that I'm interested in except Dir en grey, Kaggra and Janne Da Arc which I have plenty of already.
From there we headed to our hostel, which turned out to be exactly what we paid for
It was $35 a night per person (hostels are generally inexpensive), and our room was a closet with a bed, shared bathrooms, and to top it all off - the walls on the rooms didn't even go all the way up to the ceiling! This was so they could easily ventilate each room without having to pay for air conditioning I assume. It was crummy, but it was a cheap and inexpensive place to sleep for one night in NYC. Not too bad of a place, honestly.
From there we had to get all pretty for the concert - this was a nice concert, we couldn't just go in our street clothes, pshaw! We had time to walk to Kid Robot and buy some little toys. We tried to walk as much as possible and take taxis as little as possible since we're not familiar with the subway system. By this time I was getting a little cold in my little dress and decided I needed something warmer, but I didn't take anything! So we're in SOHO trying to find a reasonably priced sweater, which was just a complete joke. I just wanted a Macy's or something! Stupid fancy boutiques and their fancy priced items. I bought a wool sweater, but I won't ever wear it again so I would like to sell it to someone who will wear it and enjoy it.
The theater was amazing! It was a dinner theater, and we had delicious food before the Yoshida Brothers played, yum!
Here are some recent photos. I also finished my corset! I'm so proud of it ![]()
